Whether you’re looking for a cozy outdoor rink for the kids, a good sledding hill after the first big snow, or a spot to practice your hockey skills, we’ve rounded up the best places around KC to make the most of the season. Ice Skating!

This cherished tradition, occurring annually in November and lasting throughout the season, is a delightful event to look forward to.


Crown Center Ice Terrace

Located in the heart of downtown, is a magical destination all winter long. Open early November through March.


Chicken N Pickle, Overland Park

Opening in November, they'll host open skate, character skates, family nights and skate fundraisers.


The Rink at Zona Rosa

The Northland’s newest ice rink is back at Zona Rosa this winter season. The Rink at Zona Rosa is open daily from mid November through January, 2026 for public ice skating, pond hockey, special events and more.


KC Ice Center

Situated in Shawnee, this rink is dedicated to a wide range of activities, including skating lessons, club hockey matches, and figure skating.


Centerpoint Community Ice

Adaptive Skate days, homeschool skate days, free skate, lessons, and more this indoor skate arena in Independence offers it all.


Summit Ice

An 8,000 square foot ice rink conveniently located on the corner of Chipman and Douglas, it's the only outdoor ice rink in eastern Jackson County. Summit Ice has extensive patio seating area and multiple open fire pits under the twinkling lights above provide a magical atmosphere for all to enjoy.


Ice at Park Place

Leawood's only outdoor ice rink is open every day from mid-November through February.  The Ice is surrounded by seasonal festivities, amazing restaurants, and local, specialty shopping. Enjoy special events like Skating with The Grinch, Frozen Sisters Skate, and Fire Engine at The Ice Skate.  


Soul of Santa's Winter Wonderland on Ice

Experience the magic of winter at this brand new rink located in Kansas City, MO, near the 18th and Vine District. 


Line Creek Community Center Ice Arena

Line Creek Community Center Ice Arena offers a spacious 34,000-square-foot facility where you can enjoy public skating, freestyle sessions, and stick time, and special events. Located in the Northland.

Snow Creek

For all your downhill snow activities in the Kansas City area, Snow Creek is the go-to destination. Skiing, snowboarding, and tubing, Snow Creek has it all.
